The Bodhrán album features Ivan Smyth. The Bodhrán is the heartbeat of Irish music. Pronounced ‘Bow-Rawn’ or ‘Bough-Rawn’ this ancient framedrum is traditionally made with a wooden body and goat skin head and is played by striking the drumhead obliquely with the hand or with a double headed stick. The Chieftains Christy Moore Mel Mercier and Tommy Hayes etc have been prominent in bringing the Bodhrán to the forefront of traditional Irish music and is found in most Irish traditional bands today.
